Westshore Public Safety Cadets #7711

The Westshore Public Safety Cadets #7711 serves young adults ages 14-20 from Westlake and Bay Village. Post #7711 formed in 2021 when the Westshore Explorers Post #18 merged with the Public Safety Cadets, a non-profit organization founded and managed by active-duty and retired law enforcement officers and business executives who support law enforcement. The organization's mission, according to the its website, is to prepare young adults for careers and leadership in the public safety profession. 

Sign-up will be Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Westlake Police Department, 27300 Hilliard Blvd. 

The Public Safety Cadets establish partnerships with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and other public safety entities to provide training and practical experiences intended to better prepare young adults to make an informed decision about a career in the public safety sector. The organization offers national programs, events, and other support to participants. 

Mission Statement

Mentoring young adults to serve their communities by providing knowledge, skills, and practical experience through education and training delivered by public safety professionals that build character, physical fitness, and respect for the rule of law and human and civil rights. 

How to Get Involved

Anyone interested in joining the Westshore Public Safety Cadets or with questions about the organization can speak to their school counselor or contact Tracy Sheldon at E-mail Tracy Sheldon or call 440-871-3311 for Officer Jason Carman #34. Memberships are $75 per year, which includes a uniform and other essentials. Meetings are held twice a month and cover a variety of topics and hands-on activities. 

Donations

This is a non-profit organization which uses donations directly to pay for equipment, competitions, and to help less fortunate young adults join the program.
