Transportation Services

Westlake Community Services offers its very popular Westlake Senior Transportation program, an unassisted, curb-to-curb ride service available to residents, age 60 and older, weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The program gives registered riders a convenient, affordable option for travelling locally to medical and beauty appointments, shopping, errands and classes.
All rides are scheduled in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our service is very popular, and once you ride with us, you’ll see why.
To register as a rider, please call 440-899-3544 and ask for Transportation.
Our Outreach Coordinator will come to your home to explain our program and complete the registration process.
FAQs:
How much do rides cost? All rides are $1 each way
How do I make a ride request? By calling one of our ride schedulers weekdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Medical appointments can be made as you have them, even months in advance. Other ride requests can be made monthly, beginning 10 days before the next month. Last minute ride requests are not possible, especially day-of requests.
What is the area covered by the service?
Medical appointments: Westlake, Avon Cleveland Clinic, Bay Village, Rocky River, North Olmsted and Fairview Park and Fairview Hospital (Kamm’s area).
Beauty appointments: Westlake salons and barbers only
Shopping: primarily in Westlake; with scheduled days to WalMart, Target and Great Northern in North Olmsted
Library: Westlake Porter Public Library only
What type of vehicles are used? Our program has a dedicated fleet of cars (sedans and small SUVs) and a wheelchair van. All cars are light grey with a green city emblem, making them easy to identify.
How often can I ride? Up to 4 round-trips per week
Can my grandchildren or pets ride with me? No, our service is offered to registered adult riders only. No children, unregistered guests or pets are allowed.
Are wheelchair trips available? Yes, we have one wheelchair van for riders who cannot transfer safely into a car. An able-bodied escort must accompany every wheelchair rider to assist them when leaving home and when arriving at their destination. Our drivers will load and secure the rider in the van for the trips.
