As the Westlake Recreation Department continues to make it our mission to provide exceptional facilities, we are pleased to announce our 2025 Recreation Center Natatorium (Indoor Pool) and Park Improvement projects! The Recreation Center is approaching its 27th anniversary and is due for these additional updates. While we are excited to share this news, we realize there may be inconveniences to our members and guests and we apologize in advance. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and understanding while we implement these upgrades.

During this time, our valued members will have access to the Rocky River Recreation Center indoor pool. Those pass sales will begin in March of 2025.
RECREATION CENTER PARK
ATHLETIC FIELDS AND PLAYGROUND RENOVATION
This project is currently in design development with construction anticipated to begin this summer. These renovations are expected to include extensive athletic field improvements as well as an exciting and inclusive new playground. The existing concession stand is scheduled for updates and the pavilion would remain. Additional pathways would be added to access the various parking areas.
The baseball renovations would include the expansion of the two current ball fields to accommodate 90’ bases with adjustable mounds and to include artificial turf infields. This would allow for all levels of competition. There would also be new dugouts to include storage space and field lighting to maximize the hours of play.
A new artificial turf multipurpose field would accommodate a full-size football or soccer field and would have the ability to be lined for smaller-sized fields to accommodate all ages and levels of play. Field lighting would also be included on this artificial turf field. The drainage issues at the base of the hill would be addressed and the remaining turf area would receive sand-slitting with the worst areas being stripped, graded, and sodded. The area would also be heavily top-dressed and over-seeded and an irrigation system would be included.
An exciting and inclusive new playground will replace the existing outdated structures. This is being designed for all ages with a focus on accessibility, highlighting enjoyable features for those with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, AD(H)D, and wheelchair access. The tall main structure geared at ages 5-12 will be action-packed and will generate excitement drawing visitors to come play due to the height will be a beacon within the campus to draw attention to this unique one-of-a-kind playground. There will also be a smaller fun-filled structure designed for those ages 2-5. Benches and seating areas both with and without shade are included in the design.
