Our Water Aerobics programs at the Westlake Recreation Department offer a variety of classes to suit different needs, abilities, and preferences. Whether you're seeking to strengthen your muscles, increase endurance, or find a low-impact exercise solution, our water-based fitness classes are the perfect choice.

Our Classes:

  • Water Exercise in the Lazy River:
    • Focus: Custom exercise program to increase strength, balance, endurance, and range of motion.
    • Features: Use of exercise bands, weights, and anti-current in the river.
    • Requirements: Ability to enter and exit the river independently.
    • Recommended for: Total joint replacements, arthritis, and pain relief.
    • Schedule: M/W, 8:30-9:30 am; various sessions offered.
    • Fees: $34-$39 for members, $44-$49 for non-members per session.
  • Shallow Water Exercise:
    • Focus: Total body workout for all ages and abilities, strengthening knees, hips, and other joints.
    • Instructor: Kathy Becks.
    • Schedule: M/W, 9:00-10:00 am.
    • Note: No classes on select dates.
  • Water Walking for Wellness:
    • Focus: Strength and endurance workout using the Lazy River's current.
    • Features: Walking, jogging, side stepping, and kicking exercises.
    • Instructor: Kathy Becks.
    • Schedule: M/W/F, 10:00-11:00 am.
    • Note: No classes on select dates.
  • Water Exercise for Back Pain:
    • Focus: Deep-water program for spinal stenosis, sciatica, osteoarthritis, or related back issues.
    • Requirements: Ability to swim; use of aquatic belts and float devices.
    • Instructor: Judy Buckley.
    • Schedule: M/W, 9:45-10:30 am and 10:45-11:30 am; various sessions.
    • Fees: $25-$33 for members, $35-$44 for non-members per session.
  • Deep Water Aerobics:
    • Focus: Total body workout for all ages and abilities in the diving pool.
    • Instructor: Kathy Becks.
    • Schedule: T/TH, 8:30-9:30 am and 10:30-11:30 am.
    • Note: No class on select dates.
  • Water Aerobics with Lila Nagel:
    • Focus: Medium to intense workout set to music, including warm-up and cool-down exercises.
    • Schedule: M/W, 7:00-8:00 pm; various sessions.
    • Fees: $35 for members, $45 for non-members; drop-in rate available.
